San Marino proved today that sport is based on „never give up” principle. They were waiting 20 years for victory, they won first match in official championship, but they have hope for better future. Nicko Sensoli ; he just made the history and secured historical win against Liechtenstein (1:0) for his team in the first match of Nations League Division D. The future of the San Marino team can really be better.

San Marinians State TV published a lot of interviews with players before the match. Foe example Alessandro Golinucci talked about special meaning of the match ; the chance for historical victory and meaning of mental resilience to achieve the goal. Nicko is the brilliant talent of Sanmarinese football. He just came back from loan to Italian Serie D Sangiuliano to San Marino Academy. In Italy he played only in 6 official matches, but he is only 19, he can grow in San Marino and he can try abroad again. He is just the player San Marino needs. There were always huge problem with scorers here, but Nicko Sensoli  is either playmaker or backwards midfielder. Someone who can potentially improve possession playing of his team, and someone who decidedly can secure more victories in the future for his team.

Nations League Division D ; which includes mostly European outsiders ; can be fascinating ; because for these teams there is the chance to build confidence and repeat the path of other European underdogs like Iceland or Luxemburg in the future. San Marino shows today potential to let their football grow and Nicko Sensoli starts to already be perceive as national hero.
