Huge expectation which seems to be more realistic than ever ; or at least than ever before till 1986. Can the Marco Rossi team restore the great moments of Hungarian football during Euro 2024?

For a lot of years Hungary had not only great football team, but Hungarians contribute to the develop of football ideas. Even if we will mention tactical systems like WM, there were in a lot of aspects Hungarian origin. Hungarians contribute to develop football in Argentina, Brazil, Poland or even Spain. But since 1986 we can observe the huge crisis.

The process of renewal of Hungarian football is connected with Marco Rossi, the Italian coach who began his mission with Hungarian national team in 2019. Since this time the national team performed well against France, Portugal and Germany in Euro 2021 (draws against France and Germany, loose only with Portugal after the good game). WC 2022 qualify brought loose against England and Poland (even if Hungarian team draw with England at Wembley and won against Poland in Chorzow, the key factor were two looses against Albania). But lately was the great performance in League of Nations, almost promotion to Final Four, and the spectacular 4:0 in away match against England. And after very successful qualification to Euro ; Hungary is ready to surprise in Germany.

Hungarian players and fans trust Marco Rossi. He is Italian coach but he reached his more spectacular successes with Hungarian teams, and than the national team. He feels committed to the country and media, but also football’s and politician’s officials trust him.

Marco Rossi team way of playing is based on the teamwork. Style is mostly defensive, based on intense pressure, the goal is to disorganize opponents attach and push them to make a mistake which enable players to quick transport the ball for the opponents half and breach their defensive line, which has no time to reorganize.

What is interested Hungary doesn’t have huge individuality in the team ; with exception of very well- known in Europe Dominik Szoboslai from Liverpool ; the most creative, the most useful while possession player in this team. We should mention also RB Leipizig players ; wing defender Will Orban and goalkiper Peter Gulacsi. The partner for Szoboslai in attack might be Roland Szallai from Freiburg ; but also Barnabas Varga from Ferencvaros, late explored talent who had already scored 4 goals in 9 matches for national team. And the group of second division players from different leagues ( Adam Nagy from Spezia, Botond Balogh from Parma) for whom that will be live chance for better job, but who are also ready to sacrifice for national team.

In Euro 2024 during group stage Hungary will play against Germany, Scotland and Switzerland. There is not easy group but Marco Rossi is working with the team from 5 years, team is growing and there is the best moment for transits better and better feedback from football analyst into the big success according possibly new motto ; the great past, even better future.
